Walter Sobchak
The Big Lebowski has got to be one of my all time favorite films, and what better way to show my appreciation than do a model of John Goodman as Walther Sobchak.
Initially this started as just a quick head sculpt I did using the bust region of my generic base mesh. No crazy techniques here, just some basic zBrushing and proportion changes in Maya. Later I decided to finish him up with some shoulders and clothes. All the base meshes were created in Maya with sculpting done in zBrush.
Textures were started in zBrush using the poly-paint tool and then adjusted and added to in Photoshop. I then imported the mid-res meshes into Maya to render with normal maps in Mental Ray using the simple skin shader.
